Learn more about the data visualised at the Festival
Our eight artists and over 250 school children have visualised a range of data about the Liverpool City Region. We’ve prioritised open data – that means data that is available for anyone to download and investigate. See the datasets below that our artists have worked with.
Minimum Digital Living Standard
The Minimum Digital Living Standard (MDLS) outlines the basic digital needs of UK households so they can engage with the benefits of being part of a digital society. It has been developed through deliberative work with a diverse range of households from all parts of the UK—young and old, living alone, in couples, and with dependent children.
Data provided by Professor Simeon Yates and the Digital Media & Society Institute at the University of Liverpool.

Healthy and Sustainable Places Data Service – Priority Places For Food Index
The Priority Places for Food Index (www.priorityplaces.hasp.ac.uk) is a composite index constructed using open data to capture complex and multidimensional aspects that make an area a priority place for food. It was initially developed in response to the 2022 cost of living crisis, which placed many communities under severe financial pressure and limited access to cheap, healthy, and sustainable sources of food. Building on the E-food desert index (https://doi.org/10.82147/002), with additional domains relating to fuel poverty and family food support, the index identifies neighbourhoods that are most vulnerable to increases in the cost of living and which have limited accessibility to nutritious and sustainable food options. Please note that this dataset was previously hosted by the Consumer Data Research Centre – this dataset is the same as CDRC V2.1.
